
Kelly Clarkson, in full Kelly Brianne Clarkson, (born April 24, 1982, Fort Worth, Texas, U.S.), American artist, singer, and TV personality who emerged as a pop-rock star after her win in the TV talent contest American Idol in 2002. Clarkson was raised within Burleson Texas (a suburban area within Fort Worth), where her talents in singing were first recognized by her 7th grade choir teacher. Clarkson quit high school in order to relocate to Los Angeles where she failed to succeed in the entertainment industry. Following her return to Texas Clarkson was an contestant in the inaugural season of American Idol, a show broadcast by the Fox Broadcasting Company. American Idol, a singing contest that let viewers vote for their favourite performer. Clarkson's charisma, voice, and humour were immediately adored by viewers. The prize she won was $1million and a recording deal with RCA.
