Simone Biles

Simone Biles is an American gymnast. Born March 14, 1997, in Columbus Ohio U.S.A. She was the first gymnast from the United States in history to have won four gold medals during one Games. In Rio de Janeiro, she was also the first female to win consecutive World All-Around titles. Biles grew up within Spring Texas in the Houston metropolitan area after her and her sister Adria received adoption by grandparents Ronald Biles and Nellie Biles. Simone was interested in gymnastics at age six when she took a field trip for day care at Bannon's Gymnastix and remained there for eleven years under supervision of coach Aimee Boorman. Biles was awarded a gold medal in floor exercise and a bronze in vault at the women's Junior Olympic National Championships in 2010, before advancing to the elite competition in the year 2011. A year later, Biles dominated the sport. Biles stood out for her consistently high performance and exuberant personality as well as the difficulty of her routines across the four events she competed in including vaulting, uneven bars and balance beam.
